Gray: See also Silver in METALS

There is a connection in scripture between gray and old age or an elder.

Old age earns respect and the younger must respect those older than them.

Old age and gray hair is the glory of the aged:

"The glory of young men is their strength, and the splendor of old men is their gray head." (Prov 20:29)

Old age and gray hair is connected with wisdom and experience.

The compassion and care of God is demonstrated towards His people in His love and care for them from birth to old age. "Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you." (Isaiah 46:4)

Negative

Mixture of black and white; deception; compromise; truth mixed with tradition; weakness.

Israel were at times separated from their God and did not realise that old age and declining strength had come upon them because of their forsaking God and His ways. Thus, gray hair can be symbolic of weakness.

"Aliens have devoured his strength, But he does not know it; Yes, gray hairs are here and there on him, yet he does not know it." (Hosea 7:9)
