What is the Lord saying about Nigeria?

In my dream on 2 May 2026, I saw a room filled with many military Bibles. I looked at the front covers of the Bibles and saw an emblem of the Nigerian map and flag. I opened one of the Bibles and saw a colourful picture depicting a current event.

We all know that the current state of Nigeria is not appealing to many. The economy is in shambles, there is insecurity, and many people are unemployed. People are looking for someone to blame. Most blame religion, tribalism, and some even point accusing fingers at certain pastors.

Many churches have been praying for Nigeria for years, but why aren’t we seeing the drastic changes that are expected? We must understand that while it is important to pray, praying without direction will not produce the results we truly desire.

A scripture comes to mind:

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

It is not enough to pray; we must pay attention to certain key phrases in this verse:

HUMBLE THEMSELVES – Are we humble as a people?

PRAY & SEEK MY FACE – Of course, we have been praying for years, but have we truly sought the Lord's face concerning our nation?

TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS – Do we speak out for the oppressed and persecuted, or do we act as though we do not care about the injustice taking place in our country? Have we held our government officials accountable, or do we simply ignore their corruption? We must understand that taking responsibility is one way to turn from our wicked ways.

Only when we do these three things will God have mercy on us as a nation and make way for a new beginning.

God will do three things to answers our prayers:

  • He will hear from heaven.

  • He will forgive our sins.

  • He will heal our land.

I believe one major way the Lord will heal our land is by removing the influence of oppressors -- those who take advantage of our resources. He will then raise leaders who uphold the law based on virtuous principles. Of course, we should not expect a perfect system, since the ungodly will always be among us. However, a higher level of discipline would help reduce corruption to the point where the corrupt feel like anomalies in society.

So let us not only pray, but also do the things the Lord expects of us as a people.
